A few months ago I blogged about an enterprising Cambodian guide at Angkor Wat who had put together a basic website to advertise his services and was using Google Adsense to promote it as well. It’s a great indication of how the Net can be used to leapfrog traditional – and costly – methods of marketing to connect entrepeneurs in developing countries direct to customers. It’s not a small amount of work to get the page set up and get it written in English too, which usually involves the help of some sympathetic backpacker. I’d love to find out how effective these sites have been in boosting their business.
Anyway, in my original post I’d cleverly lost the website address of the guide I was talking about – however, I’ve recently found two of them – this Angkor Guide on Geocities and another Angkor Guide on Livejournal.
