Sony Wega Plasma TVs Get Ugly

It’s not often an advert gets my attention, but this one is just wrong. It’s a full colour half page Sony advert in the Bangkok Post for their new snappily-named Wega KE-MX42A1 42″ Plasma TV. The advert’s copy is jawdroppingly awful, the sort of comical Engrish that you simply wouldn’t expect from a multinational company like Sony. Read for yourself – the following is all [sic]:

Beneath this is an image of a beautiful woman’s face in closeup. Over which the ad creators have triumphantly imposed an emphasis box, showcasing a barely noticable purple line on the model’s cheek. The box’s label explains: “An unwanted capillary on Lookked’s cheek, as revealed by WEGA ENGINE”

To which the only sane response can be: Quick! Where do I get the TV that makes makes beautiful women look disfigured and ugly!
